The benefit of being a member of this exclusive group of business people is not limited to having business referred to you. Through our weekly meetings, social events, community involvement and participation in our executive, we develop strong and supportive friendships. When we face challenges in our business and personal life, we have a large business and personal support network to draw on for support.
OUR REGULAR MEETINGS
We meet in a conference room at the Westbank Holiday Inn on Wednesday mornings from 7:00 a.m. sharp until approximately 8:15 a.m.
Regular attendance at our weekly meetings is very important. Not only is it a matter of common courtesy to meet with your sales team as regularly as possible, absence interferes with the important relationship building that is required to establish and maintain the flow of referrals. Failure to maintain a minimum attendance of 70%, either in person or through a representative, will result in elimination from the membership.
Our meetings are structured and productive:
Alternating weekly between the first half and second half of our membership list, every member is given the opportunity to give a 1 minute “infomercial”. Every member is given the opportunity to give at least one 10 minute presentation to the group every year, and with our membership that means one or two such presentations every meeting; and there are times allocated to the passing of referrals and general networking.
SOCIAL ASPECT
Building the level of interpersonal relationship required to promote the passing of referrals can be a challenge with an organization as large as ours. Our Social Committee works hard to meet that challenge.
We have various social initiatives including organized lunch meetings, fun golf tournaments, “after hours” events, pub “meetings”, and of course our summer and Christmas parties.
We have a well established and effective Charter, a 10 member Executive, a web site and brochures of the members in the Westside section of the Capital News. Our $475 annual dues are still a fraction of what the BNI groups charge, yet fund a weekly full page colour newspaper listing of all our members, our sponsorship of one of the Westbank Chamber of Commerce’s Key Business Excellence Awards, our meeting room, miscellaneous expenses, and partial funding for our Summer and Christmas parties.
